Are Lithium-ion batteries being rechargeable?

A lithium battery is one that has a negative electrode made of lithium alloy or lithium metal. and a non-aqueous electrolyte solution. Gilbert N. Lewis was the first to propose and study lithium metal batteries in 1912. MS Whittingham conceived a lithium-ion battery in the 1970s and began research. Lithium metal manufacture, storage, and use have extremely stringent environmental requirements due to their highly active chemistry. As a result, lithium batteries have been out of usage for quite some time. Lithium batteries have grown commonplace as science and technology have progressed. Lithium batteries can be classified into two groups: Batteries made of lithium metal and lithium-ion batteries.

Lithium-ion batteries are rechargeable and do not include lithium metal. Rechargeable Batteries of the Fifth Generation- Lithium metal batteries, which were first introduced in 1996, outperform lithium-ion batteries in terms of safety precaution, discharge rate, specific battery capacity, and cost. In few countries a very less number of companies now make lithium metal batteries due to their unique high-tech needs. Professor Liang Jiajie and Professor Chen Yongsei of Nankai University, along with Professor Raichao of Jiangsu Normal University, succeeded in producing a graphene three-dimensional porous carrier capable of ultra-fast charging in October 2018.
